I don't feel qualified to give advice, but in my experience, this is just
what happened to me. My smallest horse was clocked with a truck at 13 mph on
an XP ride along a dirt road. I can't remember whether this was his very
fastest, but probably nearly so. He, too, prefered to trot, as did the other
two horses I mentioned. They all had good bone and hoof size, but they did
hyper-extend at the fast trot.
