Re: RC: NEW: Farrier thread/question
As a rule of thumb, for us, Jack is a farrier since 1957, and will
immediately go out and put a shoe on. We have time in each day to do
repair work like this. Needless to say, it doesn't happen very often.
If the shoe falls off that soon, he should get over to fix it
A.S.A.P. That is our policy. With no charge.
Even when there is something going on, like chain link fence down in
the pasture, or the horse scrambles in the trailer, we go out right
away and put the shoe back on.
Only after the shoe gets pulled off repeatedly, after the 4 or 5 time,
does Jack ask what is going on in the pasture or the trailer.
But he doesn't charge for the shoe coming off till it happens 5 or 6
times in a row. And even then, he will walk around in the pasture or
ride with you to see how the trailering is going before he charges for
putting the shoe back on. For the first 5 weeks of the horse being
shod.
Hope this helps. If my farrier didn't return my call after 2 days, I
would get a different farrier. Even my husband knows this about me.
That is how we got together and married in the first place. And it is
still working. Thank goodness.
