Actually, when AERC first started, 25's WERE sanctioned as endurance rides.
We soon discovered that the short rides when run as races (yes, we saw times
just over an hour for some) had far more treatments and fatalities than the
50's and up. THAT was why the lower limit for endurance rides was set at 50.
