Well, it did sound kind of snotty and condescending...why else would you
add your own disclaimer?  

My sister placed 6th in her first LD and she damn well deserved
recognition...I know the amount of pain she went through to do it and
the amount of pleasure and sense of accomplishment she received. 
However, I RESPECT HER MUCH MORE THAN THE LOT OF YOU WHO THINK ANYONE
RIDING A 25 LD IS SOMEONE INSIGNIFICANT AND UNWORTHY OF YOUR ATTENTION!
Who do you people think you are?  What makes you think we/I care about
YOUR respect?  My self respect and the respect of my horse are what is
important to me.  I am sure those of you who are seasoned distance
riders know far more than I... I am going to learn more from those who
truly want to share this sport with me than from those who want to shove
their opininons and gripes about AERC down my throat.  I suppose we will
have to agree to disagree... but I do hope that if you ever meet my
sister (or someone like her) at a ride that you will BUILD her up and
applaud her efforts rather than look down at her.  Whether she wants or
needs your or anyone's approval or respect, she does deserve it for it
takes much more guts and effort for her to complete a 25 LD than it does
for you to complete a 100 and THAT is true grit and intestinal fortitude
which in my book, counts as endurance!
