Re: The case of fear (personal & long)
Hi Ellen: I do understand. I am 49 and the victim of panic attacks
since I was a young child. Just recently, I decided to get help and am
so glad I did. I have already learned a great deal about panic attacks,
what brings them on, and tools to use to stop the attack. For those of
you who have not had panic attacks, they are crippling. Panic attacks
are why I have competed in only one 25 LD in two summers. When you have
a P.A., you literally feel like you are either going crazy or will die.
I have a great mountain trail horse, I am a good rider, but my P.A.s hit
when I think about going to a ride. I am not worried about the horse, or
the trail, its getting me to the ride. It sounds like you have
"situational panic" and are becoming agoraphobic. The best thing that
you have done is realize you need help. If you want to email me
privately, I can give you lots of ideas to help you get started. You
CAN get better - there is hope! You and I deserve to ride down the
trails just like anyone else!
