Re: spent grain



It's used all the time in swine and cattle feedlots.  Fairly low in
energy compared to other energy sources, since it's largely the soluble
carbos that have been removed.  It's about 10% lower in energy than
whole oats.  However the protein is still very high, around 23%.  High
in phosphorus, inverted calcium.  It has it's uses, but generally best
left as an ingedient in balancing pelleted rations, not so much as a
straight feed for endurance horses, just based on the high protein
content.
