RE: Other Sport Horse Organization Membership Fee Structures (Teddy's and Bob's questions)

Teddy's question:
There were non-participating member fees in at least two of the groups that
I recall offhand. USCTA's policy now (checked my notes again!) is that the
family member fee structure is for novice and training levels only. Prelim
and above have to pay full price. I don't know what the past history was
for this. The non-participating fees meant you got the magazine or other
publications but no other bennies (like points).

Bob's question:
Yes, AERC is a bargain for families. We really shine there, but you're
overlooking two important points. One is that an individual member is
paying an inequitable amount to support the association. The second is that
juniors who don't have a family to support their sport don't get a break.
And yes, I do want the board to look at this, especially to answer these two
imbalances in our system. Whether this means increasing in some area,
decreasing individual fees, offering an individual junior membership fee
will depend on the outcome of the evaluation. We can be a very creative
group and I'm sure can come up with a fair, innovative structure. Notice
also that USCTA assessed Canadians a flat rate, no matter which membership
they took, so I'm sure we can also come up with a fair Canadian rate, too!
