Re: Wintecs vs. Thorowgoods

Okay, I'll throw in my two cents on this one. I don't particularly
like to post negative stuff.

Have two Thorowgoods (all purpose synthetic) and on Wintec (all
purpose synthetic). The Wintec never worked on any of our horses and
started to fall apart in the time it took us to find an alternative.

The Thorowgood worked for a while in the early days on our TB, until
he muscled up. We needed to use a very thin pad for it to work. A
thicker pad made it pinch his withers. The saddles seem to work fine
on some of the smaller - slightly sway backed ponies in this
neighbourhood.

The Thorowgoods got a lot more use and held up much better than the
Wintec.

All our horses are fairly beefy, even our little gal has a pretty wide
spine and they all need saddles with a wide deep gullet.

The Wintec hasn't been used in over a year and I only pull out one of
the Thorowgoods when one of the other saddles is being worked on and
we have all three horses out at the same time.
