A friend of mine that competes in AERC quite heavily actually had one
of her horse's stifle ligament cut on the advise of a well respected
endurance veterinarian. The gelding was 6 years old at the time. He went
completed over 1200 miles after the procedure without complications. I don't
remember the symptoms that led to the Rx - but I was kind of shocked that a
veterinarian would suggest it. Apparently it was the correct thing to do
though.
