Thanks, D'Arcy. It looks like a good product.
I have to pay $750 to get it delivered (almost a ton) from Maine but as soon as
I get the money, I think it would be good. I have an almost 32 year old
with no teeth who still wants to eat hay. I did not want to feed cubes
because I have heard of horses getting botulism. It is frustrating because
we have some of the best hay here, but with the whimpy weather which includes
freezing nights and warm days, we have hay with a very high sugar content.
I like Karen's idea and since I just lost a (relatively) young horse to founder
that killed him very quickly, I need to refigure.
I'd be interested in that also. Last night on RFD-TV
they were advertising a product called Lucerne forage. Is that the
same? Has anyone used it?

Intrigued by the chaffhaye being demoed at the PNER
convention this past weekend. Anyone have any experience to
share? Our farrier says they called it "chop" when he used it
as a kid in Los Angeles. I did some figuring and determined it
was about the same price as baled hay from Eastern Washington--but
then the advantage goes to the bagged chaffhaye as it is fed in bins
and none is wasted. ( About a sixth of our hay winds up in the
compost pile around here despite my best efforts to keep it away
from the horses trampling habits....)
I LOVE the idea of carting
around those tidy little 50 lb packages of forage: weed-free, highly
digestible, moist, tidy, not selenium- deficient!
