[RC] Chaffhaye? - Mary Krauss

Intrigued by the chaffhaye being demoed at the PNER convention this past weekend. Anyone have any experience to share? Our farrier says they called it "chop" when he used it as a kid in Los Angeles. I did some figuring and determined it was about the same price as baled hay from Eastern Washington--but then the advantage goes to the bagged chaffhaye as it is fed in bins and none is wasted. ( About a sixth of our hay winds up in the compost pile around here despite my best efforts to keep it away from the horses trampling habits....)

I LOVE the idea of carting around those tidy little 50 lb packages of forage: weed-free, highly digestible, moist, tidy, not selenium- deficient!

So what is the downside???

Thanks!
Mary K.
