Re: [RC] Cannon bone measurements - Don Huston

So how and where do you properly measure a cannon bone?

On another horse site I am on I asked about cannon bone measurements.  What is ideal, per 100lbs?  I always heard 8? per 1000lbs, but 7? is acceptable.  And it can get thicker with age.

But in response one person said: ?the only thing I know about cannon measurements is serious endurance folks won?t even consider a horse with less than 9?. Don?t think she is an endurance rider from what she has spoken of in the past.

Huh? This true?  I would think that would be a pretty heavy horse. Though, I?ve never measured before to compare.

What say you?
