That is true. Even with a 30 minute pulse criteria. ;)

But having a vet hold or check every 10 miles will help. And having such a large entry fee may also help. More to lose, if they don't care about their horse, they might not want to lose the entry fee if they're pulled or otjerwise DQ'ed.

Good or bad, a vet  is not going to prevent an idiot from overriding his/her horse.
