It happens to me every time I ride with
them competitively. Not really shin splints though, not in the true
definition of the medical term as explained to me by my chiropractor. It’s
closer to ‘flaying the muscle off the bone because of the side-to-side
torque-ing (sp)’. Basically it grabs the muscle and pulls it around
the bone with every stride, then back again. Extremely painful! My
chiropractor has forbidden half chaps. So would my massage therapist if
she knew.

Cindy, Sorry, I should have said half chaps CAN cause shin
splints. I had a very bad experience wearing them. Guess it only happens
to some riders. My personel preference is, less is better. jvm
