I got the 1/2 ton because it was supposed to be my commute vehicle as well, so I didn't want to burn 7mpg, AND I DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER! Just my two cents, but my 1989 Ford F250 (460 engine with a 4.10 axle ratio -- read very full size gas engine --) was getting 10 mpg even before I added the Banks Power Pack. 10 mpg towing a 6100# gooseneck modified stock. The price of diesel may convince me to sell the new truck and go back to "old reliable".
