[RC] Wrapping Legs - Roger RittenhouseShipping Boots not the same as wraps. I always used shipping boots for protection. I used the really expensive boots the 3day event riders use. About $200 a set but they lasted for ever. Those $50 cheapies really did nothing for support or protectionWrapping post ride. I used thick no-bow wraps. Only left on for a few hours, never over night. Wrap loose. I used my home made liniment. I evolved to ice boots and liniment after a ride. I would ice for 20-30 min then apply my liniment then wait an hour then ice again. If I had issues, I would cycle a few times post ride. After I stated doing this I almost never wrapped unless there was an issue that needed to be sweated out.. At VET CHECK.. ICE BOOTS every long stop. Sometimes alcohol rubbed in then ice. Poultice, never found them to work all that great. But I used one from ABC or Uckele that I really liked. NEVER under wraps.. the 'chicken pot cooker' effect. I used my liniment to make the leg wet and then applied the poultice. Left air dry to remove the heat and help with any filling. Most of time when the ride was easy I used my liniment and some ice. I applied liniment at least once an hour for ? until later at night. Plus 'walk abouts' at camp .. you know - get a beer take a walk visit and repeat every hour :) Rx I used my liniment after every conditioning ride at home. My Liniment Equal parts Aloe Gel or liquid Wintergreen alcohol Witch Hazel BROWN mouth wash Just read the labels of all the costly stuff and see why this mix is about the best and lowest cost.
