It leaves absolutely no residue. When you stop the ice, the anti-inflammatory properties stop. 2. It is completely external to the horse. 3. It is a logical extension of natural cooling. I have personally, encouraged a horse to stand in a cold, flowing stream at a checkpoint. Ed PS. Please do not interpret this post as advocating anything to mask pain in a horse before final check etc., I am just trying to point out that there are very real differences between internal, pharmaceutical treatment and external cooling.
