Re: [RC] FEI is OK with Bute ... no reaction from the US? - Diane TrefethenThere is another more subtle problem, a greater potential for an uneven playing field in AERC competitions that are FEI co-sanctioned. Drug-free AERC horses may now have to compete with drugged FEI horses for *AERC placings and points*.Even though the chances of getting tested are slim, most non-FEI riders will continue to abide by AERC's drug policy because *if* they get caught, the penalties could be substantial. However, for the FEI competitor, getting caught is a glass half full. Not only are the chances of getting caught small, but even if they are caught, they can still get their FEI completions and points so they have less incentive to refrain from using painkillers to allow their horses to continue to compete. Every little improvement in placing achieved by a drugged FEI horse will be at the expense of all the undrugged horses behind it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
