Re: [RC] FEI is OK with Bute ... no reaction from the US? - Truman Prevatt
Who knows where it came from. By the US I expect it is meant USEF.
Like anything the Devil is in the details. If the allowance of bute
means that it will "allow" amounts that are residual and have no effect
(say 5 to 10 half lives down) - that is one thing. If they allow
amounts that still would have some pharmacological effect - that's a
whole nother kettle of fish.
However, what what little I have heard it looks like it is similar to
the flat track racing industry. If so that clearly flies in the face of
the AERC regulation, in the face of the sensibilities of most AERC
members and as far as I am concerned one more reason for the AERC to as
quickly and decisively as possible dissociate itself from international
endurance and it's governing bodies, the FEI and USEF. At the end of
the day you will be judged by the friends you keep.
Supporting an organization in any way that allows horses to participate
in endurance rides on bute is clearly not in the best interest of the
AERC or its members.

Hi Leo! This was a total surprise to me - the vote to
approve was the first time I'd even heard of the proposal. I almost
thought it was a joke when I saw the first press release.
I just published a few articles on the subject. I seriously
doubt it came from the USA!
Hello,
I find a bit strange that no reactions are coming from the other side
of the ocean. In Europe it seems that the biggest nations were against
this new regulation.
I heard that the proposal came from the US? Any comments? Was the US
fedaration supporting this request? And if this is true, how can a
federation propose such a big change without first getting input from
the riders?
I know that our federation are governed by showjumping lobbies but am I
so naive?
Opinions ?
