Re: [RC] 75 Mile Ride Informal Survey - Truman Prevattpaul@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote:I was wondering how many riders are going to be more motivated to try a 75 mile ride since AERC has upgraded the points awarded for completing a 75?I've always seen the 75 as a no man's land distance. I have never had any interest in a 75 - still don't even with more points. If you want points do a 100. If you want to do a 100 do a 100. You don't need a 75 to get your horse ready for a 100. Riding 50's and a good conditioning program will do more to get your horse ready for a 100. In reality a 2 day 100 or 3 day ride will probably get your horse ready for a 100 better than a single 75. Most 75's I've seen were redoing some portions of a 50 mile tail which can be quite boring to both horse and rider. I sure hope this change doesn't have an unintended consequence of the 75 becoming "100 for the average AERC rider " and the 100 becoming even more dominated by FEI riders.
