Re: [RC] 75 Mile Ride Informal Survey - Barbara McCraryAs a past ride manager of both a 75 mile ride and a 100, on the same trails on the same day, perhaps I can give some input to your question. One rider told me, "Why should I ride a 100 when I can ride a 75 and be in by my usual bedtime and then relax?" I have seen other riders who did the 75 because they, like I, have aged and no longer need or want or are capable of taking the challenge of a 100. I have heard riders say that either they or their horses weren't ready for 100. Some riders like the extra challenge of the 75 but don't want the extreme challenge of a 100. I do know that most of the years we put on both distances, there tended to be three times the number of 75 mile riders as 100 mile riders.
