If there is another well established ride a week away, and since it was a last minute addition, they may in fact be discouraging aerc only riders so as not to upset those RMs nearby by drawing riders from their rides! I know a few months back when it was being discussed in a different forum they were trying to set the date of the ride around pre existing rides so as not to take away from them. The glass is half full people! Let's not always assume the negative. And if you have these questions, maybe it would be best to call the ride manager putting on the ride and just ask them? That's always better then speculation.
