"Trotting out" seems to be often an issue for us with our gaited horses. Most of them dont seem to understand whythey should go a short distance in an animated manner when their running walk is fast enough to travel with us as we jog. So, I started running with them and used my wife or others to motivate at first with a buggy whip to get their intention. Boy did it work. 3 top tens and one BC last weekend and I really dont think the BC would have happened without your running tip. Sincerely, thank you very much.
