Re: [RC] Girth Rubs - Mickie NewnamIf the area was fine all Summer and just now causing issues, shaving it may very well help. Also, a friend of mine had a horse that she had to avoid pulling the legs forward or she would gall, because it made all the wrinkles land in one spot. My mare has lots of folds behind her elbows and recently we are getting some galling where my girth is either rubbing or my mohair girth is pulling her hair out. I switched to a fleece girth but I never had a problem with any rubbing all summer but the last two rides I have had major problems . I was wondering about shaving behind her elbows as maybe it is her winter hair coming in that is the problem ? My saddle is not moving back to front to cause it ?I have tried stretching her legs forward after cinching , I have used show sheen and baby powder with no luck . I do not ride with a tight cinch at all. I would like to go to Moab and ride more than one day , Any idea's ?
