RE: [RC] Tevis - OT riders - fhallI also am planning on doing Tevis one day. My goal is within the next 10 to 12 years but I am open to either way!! I am (still!) recovering from a kidney transplant two years ago and am now back up to riding up to 50 miles although only competing at 15 and 25. I am riding with an insulin pump for now as I am also a diabetic. I am looking at a pancreas transplant within the next 3 to 5 months so that will be another setback, but the stronger I am going in, the quicker I should be coming back out. By the time I am through replacing body parts, I will be ready to go!! These just scratch the surface, but the rest of my problems are things we all face as we get less young!! My main mare is in excellent shape for now, but is pregnant!! So she and I should be getting back in shape together and hopefully will be presenting me with my next back up Tevis hopeful (crossing my fingers- hey it could happen!!) I am sure there must be more riders out there that have competed Tevis against much greater odds than I am facing and I would sure love to hear from them! My hats off to anyone who finishes or even attempts it at all with just the everyday sometimes seemingly insurmountable obstacles of LIFE all around us! Congratulations to you all! Freda Hall (now all I have to do between now and then is overcome my fear of HEIGHTS!!) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
