In the video I took of the Pucker Point trail this year, Jack Evers (the
poor rider who went overtime) is in front of me, and Bruce Weary is
in front of him. In all fairness, we should have been given preferential
treatment, since John Henry kicked up a bit more dust than a trotting
horse, so we had to cough more. As a result neither of us finished.
How fair is that? I think I'm going to complain to management.

*And* Bruce had had more practice than me. It's just wrong.

I managed to squeeze into about the first dozen horses let out of
Pen 2 and we made our way in an orderly manner to the start line.
At that point, we were held for 10:51 (my GPS says so) until 5:15
when it was time to start.

During that ten minute wait, the air was completely electric and, with
the exception of one fidgety horse, all the horses stood completely
calm and still. Roo kept looking behind him as if to say "What are
all those guys doing there?". For me, that will forever be a lasting
memory - sitting there in the dark, quiet noises going on all around
me.
