Re: [RC] The Mongol Derby - Elizabeth WalkerI read some of the info on their site, and it looks as if they are serious about this being a people adventure, rather than a test of the horses. Riders will have GPS with an emergency button, there will be support vehicles along the route, the course has been surveyed for adequate water, and several other points. Based on what I read, the folks putting this together are putting a lot of support structure in place. It isn't a "see you if you get to the other end" type of deal. There is one section that says the rider is not to continue riding if the horse sustains 'any injury, however minor' until it is seen by a vet.On Jun 30, 2009, at 3:41 PM, Lif Strand wrote: I got an email reply from the Mongol Derby people today with two attachments (a horse welfare press release dated today, and a horse welfare logistics announcement undated). They are too long to copy and paste into this email but I can forward to anyone interested. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
