RE: [RC] Longstreet's Charge (+ cool medics vests:) - EnduroGalWhat? Humid?? ...And here I thought it was pleasantly cool outside today! Heck, you oughtta be in Houston, Texas... the riders have to take ice baths in the horse troughs at every vet check, because the temps out there average 98 degrees with 98% humidity six months out of the year. It was about 78 degrees here in Chattaboogie today - that's downright COLD in comparison! :-) Glad you enjoyed your partial tour of the course today - you are going to see even prettier scenery on Saturday! Just a plug for our photographer friend, though... Linda was unable to make it this weekend due to a family commitment, so you actually met her replacement - the eager and energized Nancy McCurdy (www.nancymccurdyphotograpy.com), who is thrilled to be with us and rarin' to photograph some horses. Look for your photos on her website when the ride is over! Hope you have a great time this weekend, and I look forward to meeting you tomorrow, Cindy!! We visited family in Arkansas for several days and then headed east. The last two days we've spent touring the Chattanooga and Chicamauga battlefields. I've tried to hike everywhere possible to adjust to the warmer temps and humidity. Honestly, so far the weather has been wonderful for this area. The mountains here may not be as big as they are in Wyoming, but they make up for it in steep, rugged beautiful combined with heat and humidity! We met up with Angie and her husband, Bill, today at the ride site. The ride site is a beautiful, lush meadow of grass. There are already a lot of rigs there. Angie expects about 90 riders. We helped Bill put up the ride management tent and then rode with Angie and her photographer Linda, up the mountain to check out the vet check area and to see Hood's Overlook. Tomorrow I'll get to test out "7" and get a saddle set up for the ride. Jody and Joni will be there then and I'll get to meet Josie, too! I'm so excited about this amazing opportunity and, of course, grateful to my long-suffering husband for getting me here. Cool medic vests-I love mine in Wyoming, but no idea if they are of any use in this humidity. I have it along, so may get to find out this weekend and I'll let you know. Cindy (from Wyoming but out here in the southeast enjoying the hospitality) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
