[RC] Pacific Crest Trail endeavor update - wrecksduke




All,

Janice just called me from the McDonalds next to the PCT at the junction of 
I-15. Noon, Thursday, May 21.

She is running three days behind schedule.... but having a great time. Lots of 
backpackers on the trail.
This was handy as her horse ran off one night and was caught 5 miles later. I'm 
sure she'll talk about it in her next report.

For those in Southern California, she is planning on camping at:

(Needs! suggestion on campground near Vincint Gap of Saturday night.)

1) Horse Flats campground in the Angeles Crest on Sunday night. 
2) Looks like Mill Creek Ranger Station Monday night. 
3) North Fork Ranger station Tuesday night.
4) Hiker Heaven in Aqua Dulce on Wednesday night.

THEN look at California Map Section E (that's the Robinson's and Kim Fuess' 
neck of the woods).

URGENT! 
Janice needs: 
1) a better saddle pack, i.e. pannier type. Long Rider's Gear (a sponsor) is 
going to try to send her this item... but it requires a different saddle (see 
below). She was using a "homemade" pack... that was not balanced the way it 
should be.
2) collapsible buckets
3) backpack stove and fuel for that stove
4) water filter

Also:
a lightweight (no more than 20 lbs) western-type saddle, 15-16" seat, medium 
tree
to either have donated or to buy at a good price.

I know this sounds like a lot, but she's already completed 342 miles so far and 
needs our support. They have a PO Box set up in Agua Dulce. I have to confirm 
the address still.

I'm going to try to hook up with her on Sunday night and try to ride Monday and 
Tuesday with her.
