[RC] Rancid Oil - sherman

Title: Message
I don't recall ever reading anywhere that corn oil can go rancid in the horse's stomach. There are several online articles about why corn oil is not the best fat to supplement with, mostly the inflammatory qualities of the omega 6 fatty acids.

This is a good article from Smartpak on feeding oils... http://www.smartpakequine.com/Articles.aspx?ArticleName=promotethecoat

There are many interesting articles on the net about omega 3 & 6 and what the horses need in this respect. Seems they get plenty of 3s from grasses, but cutting and baling destroys the omega 3 and not the 6, so then a supplement of 3s is needed for balancing.
