At 67, I think I am committed to seeing how many LD miles I can ride, so I 
can't speak to age and first 50's.  I keep a n inspirational collection of 
older women riders.  I have two riders in their 90's (including Linda 
Tellington Jones' mother), a couple of 80 year olds and a very fit looking 
75  year old.
