RE: [RC] 7 times? - heidiHow many vet checks do most 100's have? I have never been to one that had six. The ones that I managed had only four. Seven is not all that unusual, and in my experience, six is pretty common. I've put on 100s with a 50-mile loop repeated (so only one vet check in camp, but the others at least are reused each time as well--that one had 7 checks, but the first was a gate-and-go for the 100s), with three loops (that one had 6 checks--two in camp, and four on the trail) and with a figure-8 trail with some common trail in the middle, so that one check could be re-utilized, but the riders did not return to camp until the finish (that ride had 6 checks). A lot of it depends on the trail itself--where there might be problematic areas that one might want to check horses before they go there, where there have been tough areas that one wants to see horses right after, where one can actually HAVE checks, etc. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
