Fwd: [RC] Old Pueblo day 2 - John TeeterI think Randy (the atLarge-ex-sw-director) Eiland at one point tried to make all his riders sign an affidavit that you would not carry a GPS on his rides b/c of this issue:) In the spread-sheet Kat mentioned, I logged 50 miles (28+22) for my VV March Maddenss Entries - AERC sanctioned the event as a 55. EVERYONE that rode the ride was quite happy with the day, it was quite beautiful and challenging and camp, when we got there, was a welcome sight:) I've added a comment at the VV March Maddness about how we might handle this issue in our Virtual Competitions. In general, in laying out the trails at the Owyhee Rides (http://www.endurance.net/oreana/ owyheeendurancerides.html), I have found the GPS miles (or google earth hand-drawn track-logs) are about 10%-15% off, always on the short side of things. Just think of the gloating from all the LD riders when the uppity endurance riders have to admit they've been riding < 50 miles and calling it "endurance"!!!:) jt On Mar 9, 2009, at 12:01 PM, k s swigart wrote:
