RE: [RC] OT - Australian Shepherds - Ranelle Rubin
Kathy,
Several friends of mine have them..wonderful dogs, just be sure she is good with kids, if you ever have them around. One Fe I know has to be locked up with small children around as she will bite their heels..hard! She is otherwise a great dog, accompanies us on shorter rides, etc..very happy dog!

Over the years I've noted alot of dog owners on this list. I have 7.5 acres, 5 horses and 2 other dogs (boxer, lab mix). A friend wants her australian shepherd to have a 'job'. Right now the dog lives in a house in a neighborhood with zero exercise.
What can anyone tell me about Australian Shepherds that I wouldn't have already read? I know they need a job, they are 1 person dogs and they herd other animals. Other pros and cons regarding the horses and other dogs? It is a neutered female, 5 years old.
