The idea I floated was that AERC negotiate a discount from USEF's typical
annual membership fee of $40 and $10 for the endurance discipline and that
cost be included in AERC fees. There is no reason why it can't be done. If you
think being a member of USEF is so repugnent, than you really can't complain if
they change the preception of endurance in the eyes of non-members of AERC. If
that has a negative effect that spills over onto AERC /Natrc, etc., maybe even
to the point that our type of rides are banned because they are perceived as
abusive, then you have to live with those consequences. All I'm trying to say is
that it is easier to change an organization from the inside rather than standing
outside and saying that the organization is bad. If you think that the latter
approach is going to change USEF, you might as well be sniffing glue. They only
care about their members and who pays them their dues. This is a perfect example
of the sand box mentality.
