RE: [RC] Low Heel & wedge pad - Karen Standefer

Have a 15 year old gelding who has a pretty good hi/lo syndrome.  I don't
wedge.  I just trim the feet balanced unto themselves.  The most important
thing for keeping him sound has been to keep his breakover back on BOTH feet
as well as keeping the heels trimmed (hi foot, the heels grow tall, lo foot
the heels grow forward.........BOTH need to be trimmed to keep them where
they should be).  The high foot tends to achieve a long toe and then dish.
It looks funny when I chop the toes off, but he moves better.  Next most
important thing has been shortening the shoeing cycle to 4 weeks to keep the
hooves in better balance.

matched feet (one higher heel, one lower heel) and how many use a
small wedge pad to lift the lower heel up?
