Re: [RC] Low Heel & wedge pad - Barbara McCraryI used to ride a horse with one normal heel (not high) and one low heel. Various shoers put in wedge pads and tried to even out his feet, but I think that may have done more harm than good over the long haul. Later in his life he popped a synovial capsule in one knee and he eventually became crippled. The knee calcified and became very distorted. Whether or not this WAS due to attempts to correct his high-low problem I can't be certain, but I don't think it helped him any. I should have left him alone, as that was what he was used to. He was a very fine endurance horse, too.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lauren Horn" <4horn4@xxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 5:14 PM Subject: [RC] Low Heel & wedge pad I would like to know how many of you are competing horses with mis- matched feet (one higher heel, one lower heel) and how many use a small wedge pad to lift the lower heel up? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
