Re: [RC] [RC] Pounds of Hay - Dawn CarrieNo you're not. I just calculated how much our herd of 7 is eating per day, based upon how long a round bale lasts them, and the known weight of the round bale. It's fed in a ring, so there's almost no waste. According to my calculations, they're eating 22-27 lbs per day (grass hay, stored indoors till fed). They're out on 10 acres, and are doing a lot of "grazing" as well, but there's not much out there right now due to the season. Like Kat's horses, they all eat more at rides than at home, especially my younger gelding...it's hard to keep hay in front of him! My husband jokes that we need to take a round bale to the ride just for Sundance! LOL
