Re: [RC] The emotional side of losing your horse - Lynne GlazerThat's so lovely, Karen. I wish we had such an option in California. If we did though, it would be regulated to a T and state fees collected.Carrie, I don't know anyone (incluing Kat) who is not sappy about their horses, but here you choose to follow the rules or you don't. I know of famous stallions buried on their owners properties with gravestones, from before it was illegal. I also know of horses in unmarked graves. Once they're "gone", in my case, it's a beloved carcass, but the soul is gone and I appreciate having the rendering truck come, so the body can be put to some use, and no, in the case with my two horses, I did not watch. And I was boarding each of those, even illegal burial wasn't really an option. I know people who live on acreage (as I do now) can't picture southern California horsekeeping, but the town mine were in allowed at least 4 horses per half acre, IIRC. What do people do when they sell their property with a bunch of horses buried on it? In the case where there's a grave marker, do you make it a contingency of the sale that the site is maintained?
