Re: [RC] Desperate Times for Horse Owners and for Horses - Kara Henry$450 here, too -- Pacific Northwest -- just lost my old girl in Oct. It was $200 for vet (farm call) and $250 for pickup by a place that does large animal burial near me. If I'd hauled her to the vet, it only would have been $125 for vet & $200 for burial. I have to admit, finances are tight, and that was my original plan -- $125 buys alot of hay Then I looked in my old girl's eyes, and realized I could not do that to a soul who'd given me so much; hauling to a strange place, away from her buddies, etc. She deserved a peaceful exit from this world, that meant at home surrounded by her loved ones. Maybe with my gelding, who is very used to traveling / going to the vet's office I may have made a different decision, but in this case I needed to have it done at home no matter the cost.Kara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Sullivan" <greymare56@xxxxxxxxx> To: <rjkopp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "marybenstover" <merryben@xxxxxxxxxxx>; "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 8:36 AM Subject: Re: [RC] Desperate Times for Horse Owners and for Horses Wow....up here in "farm country", Lake County California, between the vet coming out on a ranch call, and the carcass pick up guy....it's about $450. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
