RE: [RC] FW: Thought you might find this interesting - Terry Banister

and decide if the bridle he sells is something that should be allowed in all disciplines

Why should they not be "allowed."?? Those who still "need" to use a bit would still be allowed to continue using them.

Again, the point is missed. The demonstration just proved that a bit is not "needed" to perform those disciplines, and should not be "forced" on those who want to compete without a bit. FGS, why could they not be "allowed" and why would the innept trainers/people who cannot control their horses without the use of bit have the right to dictate who is "allowed" to compete against them and what equipment must be used?

Pressure and pain are two different things up to a point. The narrower the nose band on a bitless, the more chance for pain. Horse temperment and training along with rider skill determine the difference.

Dr. Cook is just the one who took the time to organize a demonstration to make the point that bits are unnecessary in the Show Ring, and should not be forced upon those who can perform just as well/better without them.

(both full of many rules, regulations, and tradition

Yes, and they are oudated and unnecessary. That is the point!
