RE: [RC] Horses left at trailers in CA - Ranelle Rubin/Carrie - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLFYou are absolutely right about the difficult ones teaching us the most. I have learned more about horsemanship and riding from this one mare than I have learned in all my years on other horses. And I call her my "problem child" in the most affectionate way, because honestly, she is my "teacher" and I'm not always in the mood to learn. My bad. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. <g> ~C Amen Sheila! The most difficult of horses have taught me the most, and in general, have turned out to be the best animals to ride. A trainer friend of mine rode Fellow a week ago while I rode Ranger, my 5 yr old. She calls him "The Limo" now. Who would have guessed that the horse that sent me on several "unplanned flying dismounts" after spooking, would be called a limo? Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway. ~ John Wayne Ranelle Rubin, Business Consultant http://www.rrubinconsulting.com Independent Dynamite Distributor raneller@xxxxxxx 916-718-2427 cellular 916-848-3662 fax From: tondi313@xxxxxxx To: dmchapek@xxxxxxxxxxx; ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [RC] Horses left at trailers in CA Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2008 18:35:14 +0000 Dianna, Don't quit five minutes before the miracle. A spooky, bucky horse needs to be ridden through that phase and they will turn out to be your best partner. Perhaps your saddle doesn't fit their back and it hurts, or whatever the issue is. Seems like everyone wants the frosting but not the cake, when it comes to horses. Just keep riding and pay attention. You'll figure things out, if you stick with it. These animals are going to Mexico by the thousands, cause they haven't been given a chance. If you need help, find a level headed instructor to take lessons from. (ok, I will get off my box, now.)
