That pup has a lot of maturing to do (regardless of how nice of a dog it may be). Mentally, she's young and it's not good to push a dog into training. I "coached" it in my reply because I've never seen the dog, don't know the dog's talents/capabilities etc... However, that is expecting a lot out of a 8 month old dog to be able to do off leash work relaibly. If it was me and I had my heart set on this with my pup, I'd start out with very, very short rides. And if the pup demonstrated that she couldn't reliably be under control, I'd just wait for her to mentally/physically mature so more. Jackie on Barbara's comments below: 1.
