Re: [RC] WEC trails - Truman PrevattSteph, the comment was directed to the WEC not FEI - look at the title. Of course there are countries that have no organization such as the AERC and hence if they want endurance - it is FEI. Of course there are reasons to have horses in the barn. But on race day in the WEC - you show up with your best or don't show up at all.Truman Steph Teeter wrote: Truman - it really isn't only about winning. And when one refers to 'FEI level' rides, you have to realize that in much of the world, most of the rides are also FEI, not just championships and exclusive rides, but your everyday ride is probably FEI too.. Endurance is a huge sport, and not getting smaller any time soon. When there are 50 to 100 horses starting a ride, it's not realistic to think that every rider believes he is riding a horse that can win, and that he/she will only keep a horse in the stable that they think will be a winner. There are other goals and reasons to ride than the win of the day - points, team rivalry, qualification - and also the pleasure of participation and the thrill of a good ride - this is still the major motivation (IMO) for anybody in this sport, regardless of country or culture. Plus there are some amazing junior/young rider programs out there, with a need for more mature and manageable horses. -- "The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels.
