That's exactly what I did at Tejon Ranch last November.  It got down to 24 deg, and it was BUTT cold!!!  Had the wrong sl bags though.  We had to chip ice off of everything in the morning.

DVE was fine as long as I showered early enough before the sun went
down (if I showered!).  I would have TWO low temp sleeping bags, a
foam mattress under a truck bed shell and would go to bed with all the
clothes I was wearing the next day so I wouldn't have cold air hitting
any bare spots in the a.m.!  I guess I wasn't ever there for the hard
freezes, though.
