Just out of curiousity, did you hang it 3' away from any wall/post that she could push it up against? I find that as long as I do that, yes, Z's muzzle gets sticky, but nothing else. One rat study of course.

There's another similar product that is hay-based instead of grain-based, and that might have less molasses. http://www.bizzyball.com/ Invented and made right here in Maine!

I purchased several of these balls for my mare while she was recuperating from a tendon injury. As a grey horse owner, I would highly advise against using this ball if you don't want to one day see your horse with a blackened head! My mare was covered eartip to muzzle in molasses after letting her loose with just 1 day with this ball and her forlock stood straight out in a syrupy sticky mix. It is quite messy to clean up..
