[RC] statistics - Michael MaulI think I'm with Ed on"I guess my feeling is: Do the statistics, but be very careful and cautious in the interpretation. " concerning the statistics for wt divisions at the NC and even for a full year. I decided to do a full year after looking at the count for the NC and feeling that the numbers were too small. After looking at the numbers for a whole season - there was a difference for Jrs and HW compared to the other divisions. While Truman is right in that there are significant differences between those divisions and the FW, LW, and MW - I'm not sure it really means much to us as riders. I would not lose weight to ride as a MW and expect to see such a small difference. My column on pulls and how we think about them at http://www.aerc.org/ENSept07Pres.asp states that roughly one ride out of six will result in a pull in a 50 mile ride. Whether you are at 83% or 86 % - you are going to have to do a lot of rides to notice the difference. So while there is a difference - it's not one that I'm going to worry about.
