Re: [RC] 100 mile rides are disappearing - Barbara McCraryInteresting viewpoint....Yet, AERC membership is way up. Maybe people aren't as interested in 100 mile rides as they used to be? In '96 there were 89 one day 100 mile rides. In '06 there were less than half that. It's a vicious cycle or as a friend of mine puts it "a self eating watermelon." The question is "is the decreasing number or riders driving down the number of riders," or "is the decreasing number of rides driving down the number of riders?" Most likely it's a combination of both. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
