RE: [RC] Fires in CA, here we go again - Terry Banister
Hi all,
I was helping evac horses yesterday to the Hansen Dam EQ Ctr, and I
couldn't believe how many huge rigs turned up to help from the area,
including professional haulers. They seem to have plenty of help, and
it was well organized. If you don't live in the area, there is probably
no need to try and get in there.
Even if some of the Ho Ho trail gets burned, it should still be usable if we don't get rain.

It looks like it's west of the Sunland ride area now, though it originated there. Jumped the fire lines early this morning, they say it's headed south and west. It looks as if they're using the ride basecamp (Hansen Dam Eq Ctr) as the evac for horses, so it's likely none of the ride territory is involved.
The 210 is closed near the 118, and the Glenoaks exit off 118 is closed. Jonni used to live in that area, Jonni, do you have any news from Vicki/Tara/Sheri/Mel/Jackie? Do they need evac help? I have a 4 horse gooseneck and standard cab truck, it's pretty handy at U turns for a 4 horse.
30-40 mph wind here, an hour plus away. Micki, the Precipitous Poppy was on the other side of that mountain range, in Pearblossom.
A large 2,000 ac fire is burning in theAnglesNational Foreston the west side of little Tujunga andLopezCanyons. They are calling it the Marek Fire. It looks like it is where the Sunland, Santa Get and Go ride is held. With 40 mph winds gusting to 60 mph predicted, I am praying for our fellow riders and fire personnel. I am also hoping and praying this is not a repeat of what happened last year and in ’03. Eyes to the skies,
