[RC] AERC Dues and Feb 1 - Michael MaulIn response to:"But, the dues are for a full year and are not prorated if you pay late. So I don't understand how it can be legal (or ethical) to withhold someone's points because they paid late. Is it a whole lot of extra work for the office staff to separate or calculate the points?"Members who don't renew on Dec 1 still continue to receive Endurance News through February so there would not be any prorating on the EN as a part of dues. As a courtesy to those who always renew late or wait until their first ride of the year, AERC continues to send them EN for Dec, Jan, and Feb. For those who don't renew at all - AERC is out the cost of the issues and postage but we believe it's worth it to try to keep members who have been with us in the past. EN is a excellent publication and Troy does a great job of putting it together in a format that's readable and appealing to our members. I can't give a reason for why long past BoD members decided on the date of Feb 1 and not counting points prior to membership. I'd guess that other organizations are very much the same.
